Personal Consumption Expenditure Index (PCE)

Be sure to follow the US Core Personal Consumption Expenditure Index (PCE) data on Friday next week.

The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index is an index that shows how Americans collectively spend their money.

Because the PCE index data consists of a wide range of expenditures, it is used by the FED to follow inflation, that is, it is a leading indicator.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics explains the inflation data explained as CPI, and PCE, which is the personal consumption expenditure data I explained above, is explained by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

-PCE data will be released on August 26.
-CPI data will be announced on September 13.
